# About SelfHostedApp

SelfHostedApp is a collection of practical guides, tutorials and opinions about self-hosting. We believe that taking control of your digital infrastructure is one of the most empowering things you can do in 2026.

## What we cover

- Beginner guides — Getting started with Docker, Linux and servers.
- Service tutorials — Step-by-step setup for popular self-hosted software like Nextcloud, Jellyfin, Vaultwarden, Immich, Home Assistant and more.
- Infrastructure — Networking with Caddy and Cloudflare Tunnel, security, backups, monitoring with Uptime Kuma.
- Opinion pieces — Why self-hosting matters for privacy and ownership.

## Philosophy

We are not anti-cloud. We are pro-ownership. Every service you self-host is a service you truly control — your data, your rules, your infrastructure.

## Hardware

Most posts on this site reference a real homelab setup: a refurbished Intel i3 8th gen Mini ITX PC with 32GB of RAM running Docker containers behind Cloudflare Tunnel. The same techniques work on a Raspberry Pi, a spare laptop, or a VPS.

## Monetization

This site may include affiliate links for products and services we actually use and recommend. We will always disclose them clearly. Our recommendations are based on real experience, not commissions.
